Speedster for SpeedOfMe App Reviews
Seems like a great app
Not compared to my ISP test tool yet, but app seems pretty accurate, and its native, yay!
one more thing… ping test
this app is great! i’ve always wanted a simple native speed test app for os x. the only thing i’d like to see added is a ping test. 5/5
Why pay for a speed test when there are dozens of websites that provide this for free? limit the free version to 3 daily tests? $4 for unlimited? I will use speedtest.net for free
Great App
Great app, would like to see the ability to remember past results added as a feature.
Ping test..?
Would be great if with ping test...
Great little app!
A native app that has no ads, doesn’t require flash or some other insecure plugin, and is pretty accurate. Plus it’s free!
no ping (N)
no ping and 3x per day?
The first test runs forever (tried up to 6 hours 3 different days) and never finishes - you always have your 3 per day but can’t use them. No preference or controls to tweak.
It stays “Preparing…” When started, Not worth the $4 bucks

stopped working
This app worked yesterday and now no longer works at all.
It works with no fuss and looks terrific. Last time I checked there weren’t many speedtest apps in the Mac app store. This one still looks like the best, and I’m not disappointed.
I first saw a revew of this app on lifehacker, saying “Native App” for Mac. The app is advertised as free but as soon as you run it it wants you to upgrade to pro which is $6. The speed test is inaccurate and my firewall (little snitch) showed that it wanted to connect to too many irrelevant external servers. There is a huge deal of privacy breach and dishonesty. This is, in my opinion, a new way of scam/con/cheating and deceiving. I defeitely wont recomend it. Stay away!!!
It’s a good thing Speedster is free—I would not have wanted to pay for it. Half the time it just sits there saying “Testing” but never produces results. I can get results from Speedtest.net or Openspeedtest.com much quicker. Given the security concerns found by reviewer MacReza, I’m uninstalling right now.
I would stay away from this. Says free but its more like test three times and you must buy it. I found this out when I noticed the … This update is required for this app to continue functioning and noticed the in app purchase. avoid.
Doesn’t work
App is stuck on “Connecting…” and doesn’t go anywhere
